Happily surprised

I ordered the card and loaded up the least amount of money in 2 currencies before I left home just to see how this would work. The card was scheduled to ve delivered about a month later, close to my departure date. Card arrived promptly, have been able to use without issue. Have even replenished it while away and it is very simple and quick to do so. Would definitely recommend and plan to keep using.

Very easy way to order foreign currency

I purchased foreign currency for a bday gift. Very easy and arrived quickly.

My Online experience

My experience went well online. My only complaint is that the Denver location I used sent me a 100 CHR (Swiss Francs) note in place of smaller denominations. I was concerned that it might be difficult to use such a large amount for small purchases which was my intent. I called the Travelex office and they advised that was all they had. Fortunately, I was able to exchange the 100 note for smaller amounts at a Travelex office in the Newark airport.

Great Experience!

This is not my first time ordering from Travelex. I’ve always had a good experience, but this time was specifically wonderful. I ordered 3 different currencies for several trips and each currency included smaller denominations than I usually get. This is perfect to pay tips right up front without having to break larger bills. Whoever prepared my order was thoughtful in this regard!

Frequently asked questions

  • How do you convert currencies?

You can convert one currency into another using an exchange rate. For example, an exchange rate of 15 Mexican Pesos to one US dollar means that you could convert 15 Mexican Pesos into one US dollar – or one US dollar into 15 Mexican Pesos. Pretty simple! In reality, you’ll get a slightly different exchange rate depending on whether you’re buying or selling a currency. To get to grips with the different kinds of exchange rate you might hear about, see our Currency Jargon Explained section.

  • Why do different places convert currencies at different rates?

A company providing foreign currency needs to cover the additional costs that come from supplying people with currency. The cost of supplying foreign currency online are much less, so you’ll usually get a better rate online. If you leave buying currency to the last minute, you’ll probably end up paying over the odds, so it makes sense to plan ahead.

  • Why do currency conversion rates change?

Currencies constantly move up and down against each other because they’re traded on financial markets. Market changes can be caused by supply and demand, as well as by political and economic events.

  • Is there a good time to convert currency?

You can’t predict when exchange rates will go up or down. But our currency converter above will show you historical rates, to give you an idea of how the current conversion rate compares to the past few months or year.

  • How do I convert my money?

You can convert your US dollars into over 45 currencies with Travelex, either online or at one of our many stores across the US.
