Travelling to Prague

Discover the city of a hundred spires.

Explore Prague

Steeped in centuries of history, fairy-tale architecture and arguably the world’s best beer, the beauty of Prague never dims. Here are our tips on everything you need to know about the capital of Czechia.

Delve back into history

Delve back into history

Whether you visit in the sunkissed summer or in the crisp magic of winter, one thing’s for sure: Prague is a city best explored on foot. With centuries of history laid out in front of you, you’ll never tire of the cobbled streets and fairy tale buildings.

Take a trip to Staroměstské Náměstí (Old Town Square), the soul of Prague since the 11th century. Here you’ll see the famous astronomical clock (Pražský orloj), as well as the wonderfully gothic Týn Church. Wander down to the 12th century Charles Bridge (Karlův most), where you’ll be able to see out across the river to Prague Castle , once the heart of the Holy Roman Empire and still the largest castle in the world.

Indulge in the world’s best beer

Of course, all that sightseeing is bound to make anyone thirsty – and Prague is known the world over for its beer. Setting you back less than a pound for a ‘pivo’ (about a pint), it’s often cheaper than buying water here! The star breweries of Prague are Pilsner Urquell, Budvar and Staropramen – and don’t forget to soak it all up with some classic Czech cuisine: plenty of schnitzel, goulash and dumplings. Delicious!
