Travelex opens new mall-based stores

Date: Jan 12, 2009

New York – Travelex, the world’s leading foreign currency exchanger, is opening 10 new stores in malls around the country, despite the weak economy. The new stores bring Travelex’s total mall stores to 29. Stores will offer services such as foreign currency exchange, money transfers, traveler’s checks and the company’s popular Cash Passport, a pre-paid, signature-protected foreign currency card.

“Malls may not be a traditional place to do business in our industry, but we find our customers like the convenience of conducting business with us while they’re doing other errands,” said Jon Dario, North American retail director. “Travelex stores have been in malls for more than 15 years, and we even have customers who drive hours to use them.”

New mall locations and opening dates are as follows:

  • Jersey Gardens, Elizabeth, NJ: Nov. 6, 2008
  • North Park, Dallas, TX: Oct. 6, 2008
  • Natick Collection, Natick, MA: Dec. 18, 2008
  • Park Meadows, Lone Tree, CO: Dec. 22, 2008
  • Providence Place, Providence, RI: Dec. 26, 2008
  • Cambridge Side Galleria, Cambridge, MA: Nov. 7, 2008
  • Southshore Plaza, Braintree, MA: Dec. 18, 2008
  • Burlington Mall, Burlington, MA: Dec. 18, 2008
  • Garden State Plaza, Paramus, NJ: Dec. 29, 2008
  • Fashion Show, Las Vegas, NV: Jan. 16, 2009

Travelex has also opened or will soon open stores at four U.S. airports: JFK, West Palm Beach, Cleveland Hopkins and Baltimore Washington. The company operates stores in 37 airports throughout North America.
