TRAVELEX PRESS RELEASE

TRAVELEX LAUNCHES ASHES EXCHANGE DEAL FOR CRICKET FANS

Date : November 22, 2006

Foreign exchange specialist Travelex today launched a travel money offer created specifically for English cricket fans heading to Australia for the Ashes.

The deal, which starts today, offers cricket fans the best possible deal anywhere in the UK on Australian dollars. Travelex is currently offering 2.3785 dollars to the pound and will continue to adjust the rate throughout the Test series to ensure that it is always offering a better return than any other provider on the high street or online. The deal is commission free and there are no hidden costs. The deal will come to an end after the final test match on January 6th.

The ‘Cash for the Ashes’ deal is available at all Travelex shops nationwide. Although the offer is open to Australian fans heading home to watch the series, anyone that wants to benefit from the deal will need to prove their allegiance to the English cricket team. Cashiers at Travelex shops will ask customers interested in Aussie dollars to give the name of England’s South African coach.

Research by Travelex shows that English cricket fans could pay a heavy price on foreign exchange on the way out to Australia because of variations in deals offered on the high street. The exchange specialist’s research shows that fans will exchange on average £650 as they head out for the Ashes. But the £650 can return between $1,546 and $1,501 depending on where the money is exchanged.

John Nicholas, Head of UK Retail, Travelex commented: “A trip to watch the Ashes is a once in a lifetime experience and we’re delighted to offer fans the opportunity to start their trip in the best way possible – with a market beating exchange rate. Our deal could put an extra forty dollars in the pocket of each fan heading out to Oz. There’s no doubt it was the fans that helped England to the Ashes win last year and if this deal means that the Barmy Army can afford a couple more tinnies to put them in good voice then it’s well worth it.”

He continued: “We have conducted research into all major foreign exchange services online and on the high street. This deal is the cheapest means of obtaining Aussie dollars anywhere in the country.”
